Monsoon Blinds for an Open Corridor and Stairwell

This project was completed for a building that had an open exterior corridor and stairwell connecting the different floors of the structure. The open design was intended to allow natural ventilation and light throughout the building, but it was creating a serious problem during the rainy season. Rain was blowing in through the open corridor and stairwell, making the floors very slippery and dangerous for the people using them. Water was also running down the stairs and soaking into the walls, causing damp patches and staining. The building management had received multiple complaints from occupants about the safety risk and the damage being caused by the rain water. They contacted BambooBlinds.lk urgently and our team visited the building the same day to assess the situation.

After a thorough inspection of the corridor and stairwell, our team recommended heavy duty monsoon blinds to cover all the open sections of the exterior. The corridor ran along the full length of the building and the stairwell opened onto the exterior at each floor level, so there were several large openings that needed to be covered. We prepared a detailed plan showing how each opening would be covered and what size and type of blind would be used for each one. We used our thickest, most heavy duty monsoon blind material for this project because the location was very exposed and experienced strong winds during storms. Strong roller systems were fixed to the overhead beams above each opening and side guide channels were installed on both sides to hold the blinds firmly in place and prevent them from blowing inward during windy and rainy weather.

The installation was completed over one and a half days and the building management was kept informed of the progress throughout. Every blind was fitted, tested and inspected before the team moved on to the next one to make sure everything was working perfectly. Once all the blinds were installed, the corridor and stairwell were completely protected. The building management tested the system during the next heavy rainfall and reported that not a single drop of water entered through any of the covered openings. The floors and stairs stayed dry and safe even during very heavy rain with strong winds. The occupants of the building were relieved and the safety complaints stopped immediately. The building management was so impressed with the quality of the work and the effectiveness of the blinds that they have since recommended BambooBlinds.lk to several other building owners in their network.
